ANTI-CAPITALISM

THROUGH THE HOUSES

A 12-month webinar series for the astro-curious, the capitalism-averse, and the painfully aware.

Capitalism flattens the significations of the astrological houses and makes them boring as fuck.

The astrological houses are places: fields of experience we move through constantly throughout our lives.

But capitalist versions of house interpretation treat money, career, family, pleasure, labor, community, and visibility as private psychological pockets instead of shared material conditions.

I rebuke this.

ANTI-CAPITALISM THROUGH THE HOUSES is a monthly webinar series for examining each of the twelve houses through an anti-capitalist, imaginative lens.

You’ll learn to notice capitalist logic inside house interpretation, name it clearly, and practice reading the houses in a more embodied, relational, liberatory way.

FIRST UP: BAITS & HOOKS

The 1st House Under Capitalism

Saturday, August 15th at 10am Pacific
Live on Crowdcast
Sliding scale: $15–45
A recording will be available.

We’re beginning with the 1st house: the place that contains the Ascendant, determines the entire house layout of a chart, and is the place where Mercury rejoices.

We will examine the contours of the first house and Mercury’s joy within it, and discuss the true nature of embodiment and all of the implications that come with embodying a human experience under capitalism’s rules.

Then, we will discuss the necessary trickster skill of acquiring the bait without dying on the hook.

Baits and hooks come in many forms in our modern world, and if the goal is to subvert exploitative systems, it has to begin in the body.

WHO THIS SERIES IS FOR

Astrology has increasingly been boiled down to a personality map: identity-based content, self-optimization, and marketable “insight.”

The houses have not been exempt.

This series is about taking the individualist lens off the camera for a minute.

The houses are not just sections of the individual psyche. They describe fields of experience we all traverse throughout our human lives, each with an ideological and philosophical spine that can guide us toward interacting with astrology in a more radical way.

The goal is not just to critique capitalism’s influence on astrology, but to practice taking the tool back: house by house, distortion by distortion, hook by hook.

This series is for:

Astrologers who want new perspectives and reframes to offer in readings when the egregore of capitalism, shaped like isolation and despair, rears its head during a consultation.

Astrology enthusiasts who want to understand the broader cultural implications of using astrology in modern times.

Anti-capitalists and spiritual practitioners who want better language for the relationship between astrology, capitalism, identity, embodiment, and collective liberation.

WHY THIS SERIES EXISTS

HOW THE SERIES WORKS

12 months. 12 houses. One webinar per month.

Each month, we will convene to examine one house in the chart through an anti-capitalist, imaginative lens.

Live workshops are offered on a sliding scale. Tickets are $15–45 when you register for the live workshop.

After the webinar is hosted and the recording goes up, the standard recording price will be $30, with an option to bundle three workshops for $75.

Purchasing a ticket for the live workshop—even if you cannot attend live—is the only way to access the sliding scale.
